ChecklistsAn incident has occurred; what has to be done?
THE CASE OF AVERAGEHere, it is first necessary to
1) rescue the crew
2) and then the boat, if possible!
And then? What are the requirements to make sure that the insurance pays out?
Whether this is due to your own error or bad luck, yachts run aground, leak, collide with other yachts, get stolen, lose sails or masts and crash together, resulting in visible flaws.
There are many more situations where having insurance is a good idea – you have it, however you never or only rarely need it.
WHAT DO I DO FIRST?Phone the water police?
Bring the boat into the yard?
Request an assessor?
After the initial relevant activities and formalities, NOTIFY YOUR INSURER as soon as possible.
These experts will help you further. They will tell you what to do and how you have to behave in order to
1) have your boat ready for use as quickly as possible,
2) transport a crew member home
Always ask the experts if you have any queries, even if these seem trivial.
